Wine, one of the finer things in life, was explored today at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel

Today, San Ignacio Resort Hotel has brought in Mrs. Jaimala Vasquez, from Karl H. Menzies, to introduce the staff to a higher caliber of wines. The wine tasting workshop took place in the Caracol room where the staff was bestowed a wealth of knowledge. In the early part of the workshop, the participants were given the lighter wines such as the Sauvignon Blanc (pronounced SO-vin-yawn BLONK) to taste.

Mrs. Vasquez taught the staff on how to swirl the wine in wine glasses and what to look for in the art of wine tasting. One of the white wines tasted today were the Santa Carolina Sauvignon Blanc which is a fresh young wine that offers aromas of mint, melon and pineapple with refreshing citrus notes of lime and grapefruit.

The wine tasting then moved up to other darker and dryer wines such as the Malbec. The Malbec is a purple grape variety used in making red wine. The grapes tend to have an inky dark color and robust tannins. It is increasingly celebrated as an Argentine varietal wine and is being grown around the world.

The workshop also explored the Ménage à Trois Red Wine (one of the more popular and highly demanded wines). This wine is a skillfully blended mixture of three different wines: Zinfandel, Merlot and the Cabernet Sauvignon.

The San Ignacio Resort Hotel will be upgrading the wine cellar with a wider variety and higher caliber of wines very soon.
