COPAL SPIRITUAL HEALING EXPERIENCE

Copal, a prevalent tree found in Belize, was used by the ancient Maya civilization for its resin, believed to cleanse people and places of negative energy. The term “copal” originates from the Nahuatl language word “copalli,” meaning “incense.” While the Maya burned the resin during their rituals, modern society continues to use copal to create a tranquil environment. In addition to its use as incense, copal also serves as chewing gum, glue, a purifying agent for meats, and a medicinal remedy for toothache, fever, and inflammatory conditions.

San Ignacio Resort Hotel offers a unique Copal Spiritual Healing Experience, enabling travelers to experience this ancient Maya practice firsthand. Participants often report feeling lighter and cleansed of negative energy after the ritual. The swirling smoke is said to ward off ill intentions and self-sabotage, fostering a sense of renewal and positivity.

Maya Fish Cooking Experience

Immerse yourself in culture at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel. In this Maya Cooking Experience, you will learn how to prepare a succulent fish cuisine, in the same manner, the ancient Maya cooked fish thousands of years ago. The fish is cooked on a fire heart and is marinated with local and organic Belizean spices. The cooking session takes place in a newly renovated Maya house, built next to a preserved ‘Chultun’ ( a natural refrigerator used by the ancient Maya to preserve food and meats for days), and can be eaten under the Maya House or at the on-site Running W Restaurant. Explore this new on-site experience.

This is a wonderful place to stay if you are headed to Western Belize. It is convenient to ATM, & Tikal if you chose to visit them. The staff is attentive and very professional. I can't say enough positive comments about it. It pays to arrange for their shuttle to pick you up from the airport.
