San Ignacio Resort Hotel honoured as Hotel of the Year by Belize Tourism Board

At the Belize Tourism Board's 12th Annual Tourism Awards ceremony, held on May 18th 2013 on Bannister Caye, the San Ignacio Resort Hotel was honored as the Hotel of the Year 2012. The accolade highlights a licensed hotel where service exceeds excellence and positive attitude and attentiveness of staff are the norm.  The recognition is presented to a property that offers exceptional value for money, demonstrates a willingness to adapt to the demands of patrons while remaining true to its core values, is equipped with modern facilities and amenities and embraces green initiatives. And importantly, the Hotel of the Year's ambiance gives visitors an authentic Belize “feel”.  
 
Accepting the award on behalf of the  San Ignacio Resort Hotel were Operations Manager Paulita Bedran Figueroa and Managing Director Mariam Bedran Roberson.  Both sisters say their employees put the San Ignacio Resort Hotel on top: “Collectively, they are the most incredible asset any hotel management team could ask for. This award reflects the years of hard work that the San Ignacio Resort Hotel family has invested into making the hotel one of the best experiences guests can enjoy in Belize.”
 
Escandar and Paulita Bedran opened the San Ignacio Resort Hotel in 1976 with the simple mission: to offer Belizeans a place to relax and have fun at a reasonable price. Over the last thirty-seven years, the San Ignacio Resort Hotel has gone above and beyond that mission. Under the direction of the couple's daughters-Terry, Nazle, Mariam and Paulita-the property has seen significant renovations and upgrades to guarantee superb service and first class accommodations and amenities. Highlights of this proud history include hosting Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second in February 1994 and more recently, catered lunch for His Royal Highness Prince Harry in March 2012.
