Keeping up-to-date with international news?! Then you might have heard the latest update from the Royal Family!
Back in November, Prince Harry announced the initiation of the Royal Household Hospitality Scholarship—a 6-week programme that gives professionals from the Caribbean realms the opportunity to work at the Master of the Household’s Department in preparation for Royal Ascot Week in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship was created with the aim of giving passionate and experienced individuals a once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity in various areas of service —from working with complex chocolate and sugar crafts backstage to performing intricate duties for royal guests.
And guess what?! The San Ignacio Resort Hotel team is overjoyed to announce that our Event Coordinator, Michelle Montejo, has been elected as one of lucky 9 individuals who will be hosted at the Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle!
Michelle has been a part of the San Ignacio Resort Hotel for 4 years—starting off as Front Desk, moving on to Reservations, until reaching her current position as Event Coordinator where she has excelled in creating breath-taking Belize luxury weddings and hosting a variety of corporate and recreational events.
Being the only Belizean chosen for this scholarship, she believes that “this opportunity will surely improve my professional skills and personal development in ways that are unimaginable. Not only will I be able to return to Belize with these new techniques, but I will be able to share my experiences and knowledge about our Jewel to the other scholars”.
It is amazing to see life’s turn in events; back in 1994, the San Ignacio Resort Hotel had the honour to host Queen Elizabeth II during her Royal Visit to our Jewel and now one of our team members has the opportunity to stay at the Buckingham Palace. Way to go Michelle, these news are definitely our cup of tea!
Huge thank you to the Belize Tourism Board for keeping abreast of these types of opportunities!
