Is a Belize Vacation a Good Idea? Your 2020 COVID Belize Travel Guide

Belize is ready to welcome visitors again! On October 1, Belize entered Phase 3 of its re-opening plan. This plan includes the re-opening the airport to international visitors within the Belize Tourism Safe Corridor – an umbrella of accommodations, tour operators, and tour guides that have attained the country’s highest standard in health and safety procedures.

San Ignacio Resort Hotel is proud to announce that it has achieved the Tourism Gold Standard of Recognition, a rigorous 9-point program that enables us to host guests both on and off-site safely. Because nature has proven to reduce stress and bolster the immune system, we can’t think of a better way to end a crazy year than with a Belize vacation. But how safe is it to travel to Belize and what can you expect when you arrive?

Besides face masks and social distancing being mandatory, international visitors and Belizeans must provide a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to travel. Traveling with a negative PCR test saves you time and money with the addition of accessing the Fast Track Arrival Lane at the airport. Without a PCR test, you will be required to take a rapid test at a cost of $50 USD. Prior to your journey, you will be directed to the Belize Health app where you must register 72 hours before your flight to receive a unique travel ID that will be used upon arrival at the airport. Use the app to check-in daily, record your health and wellbeing, or monitor unusual symptoms.

COVID may have altered some things, but a satisfying Belize vacation is still possible. San Ignacio Resort Hotel continues to aim for excellence in service to our guests through an assortment of vacation packages for solo, couple, work or family travel. Under the Gold Standard Certification, guests can rest assured that the Resort is stressing sanitization procedures. Whether enjoying the outdoors with a birding adventure or getting hands-on with the Tea Tasting Medicinal Tour, soaking the sun at the outdoor pool or tennis court, or visiting our friends at the Green Iguana Conservation Project — your safety is our No. 1 priority.
