Belize Birding Festival 2019

belize birding festival

The San Ignacio Resort Hotel was this year’s host for the 2019 Belize Birding Festival in which birders, hoteliers, NGOs and many more stakeholders were able to discuss the majestic creatures that fly the skies.

The festival kicked off birder-style at 6AM with a birdwatching tour followed with a quick breakfast and some much-needed coffee overlooking the jungle at the Running W Restaurant, an experience we highly recommend for you to try out. Dining with the Birds is a delicious adventure in which you can enjoy breakfast prepared by our Executive Chef while looking out for the early morning visitors.

Keynote speaker Dr. John Fitzpatrick continued the festivities with a wonderful presentation discussing How Birds Can Save the World. Hoteliers, tour operators, birding clubs and NGOs also took part of the fun by having booths, in which they were able to promote their products and services to attendees and raffled many giveaways.

Through the course of the festival Dr. John Fitzpatrick, the Director of the Cornell University Lab, Dr. Lee Jones, author of the renowned book Birds of Belize and Sergio Arias, CEO of Birdwatching Central America shared on how we can attract international birders while engaging local tourism service providers in promoting Belize as a prime birding destination.
