Stewed Pears in Red Wine Sauce

Stewed Pear in Red Wine Sauce



  • 4 Cups of sugar
  • 2 Pears
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 4 Spice seeds
  • ½ Lemon peel
  • ½ Orange Peel
  • 3 Cups of water
  • 1 Cup of red wine

    For garnish:

  • ½ Cup of Whipped Cream
  • Mint


    1. Mix the sugar, cinnamon stick, spice seeds, lemon peel, orange peel, and water in a sauce pan and boil on low flame until it has reduce to two cups of liquid. 
    2. Core pears and cook them for about 20 minutes in the sugar liquid on low flame
    3. Add red wine and bring to a boil for about 10 minutes
    4. Let it cool. Serve at room temperature. Garnish with whipped cream and mint as desired
