The Covid-19 pandemic has greatly limited global travel both by personal choice and governmental decree. With vaccination rates rising and case numbers falling, restrictions are being eased in many areas of the world, including Belize. Significant requirements have been lifted as of April 1, making this a great time to hold your first post-pandemic trip.
What Restrictions Are Being Lifted?
The first restriction being lifted as of April 1 is the mask mandate. You will no longer have to wear a mask indoors or outdoors in Belize. Anyone who still chooses to wear a mask may do so.
The other requirement that has been dropped is for fully vaccinated travelers to show proof of a negative Covid test when entering the country. Be prepared to show proof of vaccination upon arrival, but you no longer need a test.
Belize previously dropped its national curfew on March 1, 2022. All bars, nightclubs, and other venues in the country are allowed to fully operate as normal. If everyone is fully vaccinated, social events are perfectly okay too.
Which Restrictions Will Still Be In Place?
Some Covid-19 requirements are still in effect, which are important to note for any travelers planning to enter the country.
Unvaccinated travelers over the age of 5 are still required to show a negative Covid test when they enter Belize by air, land, or sea. A negative rapid test must be within the last 48 hours while a negative PCR test must be within the last 72 hours. Social distancing measures in Belize are still in effect.
