San Ignacio Resort Hotel Guest Comments

Wonderful! By far the best accommodations in San Ignacio. It sets on a hill just at the edge of town and while it's extremely quiet there, it's just a short walk into the center of town. Good, secure parking is provided out front. On the backside of the resort is a series of nature trails leading all the way to the Macal River. Birds and other wildlife can be seen from your room and while dining at the outdoor part of the restaurant. The guided tour of the resort's Iguana Project and the the Medicinal Jungle Trail are must do activities. We found the rooms to be very nice and complete with a flat screen TV and very adequate air conditioning with a remote control. The rooms are exceptionally quiet and the beds are very comfortable. All of the staff members were all very accommodating and helpful. We loved the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices and great food. Great stay - Definitely worth it The hotel was a bit over our budget, just traveling w/ a friend for a long weekend, but we decided after staying here it was way worth the splurge! Not only were the hotel property/rooms very nice and maintained and the service excellent, but it seemed to be the only nice kept- up hotel right in the town of San Ignacio (well, up the little hill). We were walking distance to all the tour companies Pacz, Mayawalk, etc...as well as little restaurants we wanted to try...though we did eat at the hotel restaurant which was very good and not overpriced. Also highly recommend taking one of the 30 min tours (runs every hour starting at 8am) to the Iguana Conservation project -- where the proceeds go towards yep, iguana conservation. It was nice to be able to squeeze that in on our last day, which we probably wouldn't have done if we weren't staying here. Tripadvisor Guest - Los Angeles, CA, May 9, 2010

It was amazing Great acommodations. Friendly staff. I would not stay anywhere else in San Ignacio. Great food in the restaurants. Wonderful place. Wilmington, North Carolina

Great Hotel! Wonderful Stay The hotel was partially under construction during our stay, but the disruptions were minimal. The room was very spacious and had recently been remodeled. The area around the hotel was a little rough. With a short walk into town or to the archeological site above the hotel, you were able to experience San Ignacio. The staff were very helpful and arranged for a transfer from the airport and a tour into Guatemala (Tikkal). The food in the restaurant was great, and reasonable priced. The spa services were average, nothing too special, but the staff was very nice. Tripadvisor Guest - New York, Apr 27, 2010

Sleep Well! Many hotels seem to have it all - but do you really sleep well when you're traveling? For once I didn't have to look forward to getting back to my own bed. The beds at the San Ignacio Hotel were like a little piece of Heaven. The hotel was recently renovated and shined bright with tasteful architectural style and elegant furnishings. Fresh tropical flowers were abundant throughout the hotel and many guests stopped to admire their beauty. And the birds - What a great way to start the day by stepping outside to see toucans in the trees just a few feet away. The hotel was a great place to stay while taking day excursions to the many attractions in the area. The staff always smiled and were ready to help if we needed anything. Our walk through the Medicine Trail and Iguana Project was fascinating and was just icing on the cake. The kids loved the pool - it was clean, a great place to have lunch, and a relaxing spot for the parents. Tripadvisor Guest - Florida, Apr 13, 2010

Exceeded Our Expectations Unlike many hotels with websites that make the accomodations look awesome when, in fact, they are outdated and deteriorating. San Ignacio Resort Hotel is the opposite. The website made it look nice, but the hotel turned out to be even nicer in person! I can only speak to the honeymoon suite on the top floor, which I would HIGHLY recommend. We me folks who were in the standard rooms and they said the rooms were pertty small. It's a nice walk to downtown, so it's nice to not need a cab, yet to be far enough away to not hear the sounds of the downtown area. The staff was extremely nice and we were treated very well. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamazing THE BEST HOTEL IN TOWN BY FAR!!!!! Great service, beds, and amenities. Perfect for a wedding as well. Was there for a wedding they hosted and it was magical and breath taking. Would definitely do my wedding there if i could! Do not think twice about staying there. Tripadvisor Guest - Davie, Florida, Apr 6, 2010

Iguana Hatchery Although I did not stay at this hotel I did visit the Iguana Hatchery. This is an amazing opportunity to learn about the Iguana's. The guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly. I had a wonderful time letting the Iguana's crawl over me. The most amazing part was there were so many Iguana's and the guide knew all of their names. Thank you for allowing us to visit the Iguana project we had a wonderful time. Tripadvisor Guest - Nova Scotia, Mar 16, 2010

Wow!!! Simply must get up early to watch the birds (toucans) from the patio. Staff provide free coffee while you take pictures and watch the birds from the canopy. Hotel is elegant and reasonably priced. Dining room is gorgeous with great food and service. Iguana project is worth the trip alone, and Luis' enthusiasm and knowledge is very contagious. (Let them walk on you, you will probably never get this chance again.) Comfortable, clean rooms. (Where are all the tourists?) Walk up the hill....it's good exercise and then you can eat more. Excellent Resort My stay at the San Ignacio Resort was excellent. Great food, service, and excellent view seemed to be the norm. Very elegant suite upstairs as well..... Ms Patricia Rodriguez is an excellent employee there and takes care of her business at the desk. I would Highly reccommend this resort! Tripadvisor Guest - Texas, Feb 8, 2010

Like Coming Home I couldn't recommend San Ignacio Resort Hotel enough. The hotel is beautiful, the food was delectable, the staff always went beyond the call of duty. We stayed through an all inclusive package, and they handled every detail for us. I didn't have to think about a thing, the hotel just took care of everything, it was the most relaxing vacation I have ever enjoyed. The staff knew us both by name from the first day, and was available and eager to help in any way they could. When we come back, I won't consider staying anywhere else! Couldn't Have Asked for a Better Stay! We spent 3 nights at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel and loved every minute of it! The staff was fantastic - we were able to organize all of our tours through them and had a great experience. Our guides were very knowledgable and we were able to have private tours throughout the trip. The on-site restaurant was also the best place we found to eat in San Ignacio and the rum punch was to die for :) It is an easy walk into town but nice and quiet. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms were better than we could have expected. The hotel wasn't very busy while we were there so we felt like everyone catered to us and were always very helpful. Wonderful base to tour the Cayo area from! Tripadvisor Guest - Bermuda, Jan 13, 2010

THE Place to Stay in Cayo This is a warm, friendly, centrall located base from which to explore the cayo district. it's located up the hill (easy walking distance) from the town of san ignacio which has a cool frontier vibe and plenty to do. the elegant lobby opens onto the pool area which overlooks the jungle - very cool. my wife loved getting up early swimming and sitting by the pool, watching/listening to the sounds of birds. the rooms are clean and recently redone. service is very friendly from top to bottom. the bar is nice and has a huge TV which will play pretty much what you'd like. overall, this is a great spot. see my trip report for further details about our trip. Friendliest Service in Belize We stayed for 5 nights this Christmas and this was a great hub for our adventure travel to the ATM cave, Xuanantunich and Tikal. The staff (including Patricia and Luis the concierge) was by far some of the friendliest people we have ever met and they went out of their way to know our names and help us through out our stay. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable and the restaurant offered great meals although I would also recommend taking the short walk into town to try the other choices there. The tours they arranged were top notch and our guide to Guatemala (Ted) made our family feel safe crossing the border. We will be back! Tripadvisor Guest - Spokane, Jan 5, 2010

The Best in Town In town this is the best option. The rooms are a bit varied though. The singles are small and not very cosy. We had a king sized room and it was good. The food is good and to be recommended - the menu is not extensive but all good. In summary it depends what you are looking for - in town this is good if you are after a more "jungle" or "off the beaten track" experience there are lots of lodges of different prices in the area.
